The time is nigh for Leinster and Connacht as they sit only hours out from the Pro12 Final in Edinburgh. This is a more that fitting match up for the final as both sides have had a very strong Pro12 season which saw them occupy the top two positions in the table at the end of the season.

In the end only points difference separated these two sides at the summit. Throughout the season both sides were in or around the top four places. When they met the home side prevailed on each occasion. At the RDS Leinster triumphed on a scoreline of 13-0 while the return fixture in the Sportsground was a tense hard fought victory for Connacht, winning by the minimum 7-6.

Both sides finished the season strong and secured themselves a home semi final. All four teams in the semi finals were showing great form and no team was in for a easy run out. Leinster were classy as they triumphed over Ulster in a match where they dictated the play, taking control of the match early on and seeing out an impressive victory. Connacht were hosting Glasgow in the semi final which was a repeat fixture of the final day of the regular season in which Connacht saw of the challenge of the Scots to secure the home semi final. There was to be no turnover in fortunes for the Warriors as Connacht again put in an impressive display to secure their throughly deserved place in the final.

Connacht go into todays game with the same side while Leinster have had to make two changes to their starting 15 with Isa Nacema and Devin Toner missing out through injury.

This is a game that has been greatly built up. Leinster underachieved in The Champions Cup this year and will be hoping to gain some silverware for their supporters. On the other hand Connacht have never contested a Pro12 Final and have often been seen as the poor cousin in Irish rugby. Times have changed and today we will witness the two best teams in this years Pro12 take the field in Edinburgh.

There has been a mass exodus to Edinburgh over the last few days, each team greatly supported as always. If you are not one of the lucky ones to be at the game it is live on TG4, so pull up a chair and get settled in for what will be an enthralling encounter between the two provinces.

We are privileged to work closely with both teams and it’s great to have two performance analysis clients in this years final. We cant sit still in anticipation for what will be a fantastic occasion and we would like to with both teams, squads, management and analysts the very best of luck on what is a great day for rugby in Ireland.
